Maddie & Wynn: A Southern-Meets-Mountain Wedding at Snake River Sporting Club

When Maddie was a little girl vacationing with her family in Jackson Hole, she turned to her parents and announced that she was going to get married there one day. They laughed it off — the way parents do with a child's big, sweet declarations. But Maddie's heart never let go of that dream.

Years later, freshly engaged to Wynn, Maddie began researching Jackson Hole wedding venues almost immediately, and her heart was set on Snake River Sporting Club before she'd even toured it in person. We had a brief phone call, I scheduled a venue tour for her just a few days later, and shortly after that tour she officially hired me as her full-service Jackson Hole wedding planner. From our very first conversation, Maddie and I had an instant connection, and we spent the following months blending her love of Southern class with the luxury mountain aesthetic that makes Snake River Sporting Club one of the most stunning wedding venues in the area.

A Southern Belle Meets the Mountains: The Design Vision

Maddie knew right away that her palette would be pink and green. She chose one gorgeous linen from Lola Valentina — Sage English Garden, a floral print on a green background — and that fabric became the anchor for every design decision that followed. From the custom bar to the table settings, that single print tied the entire Snake River Sporting Club wedding together, giving the whole weekend a cohesive, elevated feel rather than a collection of separate pretty ideas.

The Invitation Suite

Before guests ever arrived in Jackson Hole, MESH designed a custom invitation suite that set the tone for everything to come. A boot-shaped RSVP card gave the suite a playful, Western wink, while the envelope liner carried the same green and floral print with pops of pink florals. Maddie and Wynn's custom wedding monogram anchored the invitation jacket that held the whole suite together — a small detail that guests held in their hands weeks before they ever saw the venue.

Rehearsal Dinner at StillWest Brewery: Southern Rustic Chic

Wynn's parents, Lee and Dawnelle Doughtie, hosted a rehearsal dinner at StillWest Brewery in downtown Jackson Hole that set the tone for the whole weekend. I worked closely with Dawnelle on the design, landing on a Southern rustic chic look: blue hydrangeas throughout, a fun western-print topper on the cocktail tables, and finishing touches of deer antlers and horseshoes that felt right at home in Jackson Hole without losing any polish.

Snake River Strings played a bluegrass trio while guests sipped StillWest's custom cocktails, but the runaway hit of the night was the custom hat bar — a genuine cowboy named Seth branded a hat for every single guest. The evening continued with delicious Southern food, a nod to Maddie and Wynn's Texas roots, and heartfelt toasts from family and friends, capping off a night that felt like a true reflection of who this couple is and how well they love the people around them.

Getting Ready: Maddie's Bridal Look

Maddie wore the Mira Zwillinger “Jaida” gown, a showstopper with a deep sweetheart corset bodice, bold sculptural floral appliqué, and an airy pleated tulle skirt. For the reception, she added a coordinating neck scarf featuring the same appliquéd flowers — a fun detail that added fun movement to the look for dancing. Maddie found her dress, fittingly, at Warren Barron Bridal in Dallas, a quiet nod to the Texas roots Maddie carried with her all the way to Wyoming. Hair and makeup fell to Cherisa Burbage and Brooklyn Gilmour, two of Utah's most sought-after artists, who turned Maddie and her entire bridal party into a study in polish and ease.

When Plan A Meets Wyoming Weather: The Ceremony

The original plan was a ceremony on the golf course, with the Snake River as the backdrop — the kind of view that sells couples on Jackson Hole in the first place. But rain moved in, and as the planner, it fell to me to make the hard call to move the ceremony indoors.

Even though we had a tent as a backup, Maddie and I chose the clubhouse foyer instead. It might sound like an unconventional choice, but it has always mattered to me that every bride gets an aisle to walk down. That walk toward the person you're marrying is one of the most important moments of the day, and I never want a bride to lose it, no matter what the weather is doing. I waited until the very last possible moment to make the call — plan A is always the goal — but once the decision was made, the Snake River Sporting Club staff cleared the foyer, Canvas Unlimited moved the chairs into place, and Plush Floral filled the space with lush blooms in what felt like no time at all.

Maddie and Wynn were married in front of a stunning set of French doors, with Snake River Strings performing a live string quartet. Partway through the ceremony, the sun broke through and streamed straight through those doors, lighting up Maddie's gown so that she looked like she was glowing. Moving to plan B turned out to be exactly the right call, and it's a good reminder of why having a planner who can make those tough decisions under pressure matters so much on a wedding day.

In a detail that made the day even sweeter, Maddie and Wynn were married on the anniversary of her grandparents' wedding — a full-circle moment for a bride whose love of Jackson Hole began on family vacations as a little girl.

Reception Design: Custom Details Throughout

The reception took place under a gorgeous sailcloth tent provided by Canvas Unlimited, and the custom details throughout were the heart of the design. Atwood Design fabricated a custom bar and stage walls using that same Lola Valentina linen pattern, along with a custom escort card wall and a dance floor featuring Maddie and Wynn's wedding monogram. Plush Floral filled every space with lush pink peonies and roses, complemented by ivory garden roses and ranunculus.

At each place setting, guests found custom round menus from MESH, a Houston-based couture invitation maker, printed in the same Sage English Garden pattern as the linen, along with matching custom placemats. We alternated pink and green table linens and napkins to give the reception space dimension and movement, and a small butterfly marked with each guest's name finished off every seat.

Dinner and Dessert

Guests enjoyed a plated seated dinner from Snake River Sporting Club's onsite catering team, who served every guest with the kind of precision and speed that luxury weddings require. Between courses, Maddie's father, Dana, gave a beautiful toast with his wife by his side — one of the evening's most heartfelt moments. SRSC's lead events director, Kristen, is also a master pastry chef, and she created a stunning vintage wedding cake for Maddie and Wynn. Guests could also visit the “groom's table” dessert station for SRSC's lava cake and cheesecake alongside the wedding cake.

Dancing the Night Away

Backstreet Orkestra, a 14-piece band, kept the party going all night, playing hits that packed the dance floor from the first song to the last. Every moment of the day and evening was captured on film by Watertown Films, alongside Bree Wooliscroft Photography, who has an incredible eye for genuine emotion and the small details that make a wedding feel like Maddie and Wynn's and no one else's.
